I worked a wedding over the weekend that was so over-the-top amazing, it pretty much blew my mind. Here was the basic breakdown:
Diver Scallop Station (manned by a chef)
Maine Lobster Skewer Station (attended by banquet staff)
Raw Oyster Station (attended by a shucker, who cut them open right there)
Ahi Tuna and Lamb Chops Station (attended by 2 chefs)
Antipasto Station (standard- includes meats, cheeses, veggies, etc.)
Jumbo Shrimp Tower
Chicken and Beef Cheesesteak Slider Station (attended by banquet staff- always a hit)
Mashed Potato Martini Bar with 3 types of potato and 4 topping options
Then, they went into the reception, where the tables had beautiful gold printed tablecloths, the napkins were folded into pockets with menu cards for each guest, the flower arrangements sat in tall vases above the center of each table, spotlights showcased the flowers from above, the popular Janice Nowlan band played, and everyone ate some more at their seats in the ballroom…
Wedge Salad (iceberg lettuce, crumbled bleu cheese, tomato and onion confit, bleu cheese vinaigrette, balsamic drizzle- mmm)
Duet Dinner for all- Jumbo Crab Cake and Petite Organic Filet Mignon with Red Bliss Potatoes and Grilled Asparagus.
Open Bar, Dancing, and then (wait for it)
Their cake was 4 different flavors, so we stationed it with signs that said:
– Chocolate Chip with Nutella
– Raspberry with Raspberry Preserves
and cake bags so guests could take some home with them.
There was a Coffee Bar with:
– An espresso/cappucino machine (attended by banquet staff)
– Coffee and Tea- Regular and Decaf
– Cream, Sugar, Lemons
– Palmiers, Biscotti & Macarons of various flavors (Don’t be confused- these are not macaroons! They’re much more tasty- especially if you’re not a big coconut fan)
– Flavor Syrups (including almond and vanilla)
– Whipped cream, cinnamon, nutmeg, chocolate shavings
The attended Ice Cream Sundae Bar included:
– chocolate and vanilla ice cream in cups
– Rainbow sprinkles and chocolate sprinkles
– Whipped cream
– Chocolate syrup, butterscotch syrup
– Fruit toppings
The Brownie Bar included many different types of brownies, including double chocolate, blondies, and more.
…and there was a birthday cake for one of the wedding guests. Phew!
Then there was LOTS more dancing before the party ended and as everyone left, they were offered farewell treats including:
– A candy buffet with personalized To Go bags
– A mini cheeseburger slider and french fry to go bag (we put those together assembly-line style in the kitchen. Felt like we were working at McDonalds for a few minutes, lol), presented at a Diner-inspired station with a red and white gingham tablecloth, a juke box, and- seriously- little to go cups of chocolate and vanilla milkshakes for the road.
– A Philly farewell station, including soft pretzels and bottled water.
Then, most of the guests hopped onto one of 3 tour buses and went back to the hotel, where I imagine the merriment continued (but the eating probably did not).
I don’t even know how to express the wow factor of this wedding. The music, lighting and food were amazing. The energy and atmosphere was great. I love where I work and every wedding (including my own) has been pretty amazing there, but I think that this one takes the cake (hehe love the pun).
Oh, and they also had an ice sculpture like this one…
